The Blue Mountains Film Festival is pleased to announce the addition of a new festival event at Scenic World.

'Last Ride' is a unique, single-take, real-time feature that follows the fate of a group of mountain bike riders who set off into the 'Devils Wilderness' for a bike ride & find to their dismay that they are no longer top of the food chain.

Secure your seat now to see this fantastic, innovative feature premiere from award winning director James Phillips.

Entry is free to all festival ticket holders but seating is limited to 95 seats.

The Blue Mountains Film Festival is pleased to announce the addition of a new festival event at The Fairmont Resort. Book tickets now to our Panel discussion & Q&A event "Making Short Films - How, Why & What Next?"


This event is for anyone who is planning to create short films & wants to hear from a leading group of Australian film making creatives about the best ways to approach the task.


Hear about the reasons why you should make a short film, and how to approach marketing & distribution of your film once it's finished.
The Panel discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A session.

The Panel discussion starts at 2:30pm in the 'Governor's rooms' at The Fairmont Resort & runs until 4:00pm. Tickets $5

The Blue Mountains Film Festival is pleased to announce prize details for the 2011 festival Awards.

This year, each category winner will receive their very own 'Yowie', the festival's new award statuette. The 'Yowie' is being designed by Blue Mountains designer Paul Begg.

We have received fantastic support from this year's sponsors, with more than $3000 worth of cash & prizes for the lucky winners.

Our major sponsor, Scenic World, is providing the Festival Grand Prize of $1000.

Our category sponsors, SONY, The Fairmont Resort, Missy Confidential, & Blue Mountains Mazda, are providing the four category prizes.

We are also pleased to announce we are including a 6th prize - Audience Favorite, also sponsored by SONY.

The 2011 Blue Mountains Film Festival (formerly the Katoomba Short Film Festival) is now in its fourth year, and will be held at Scenic World, Katoomba on October 13, 14 and 15, set against the stunning backdrop of the Three Sisters and the Jamison Valley. Screenings will be held in the Scenic Cinema, wrapping up with an awards presentation on the final evening in the Skyway Restaurant. The festival is now open for submissions.
